ABOUT THE COURSE

Our Production Management course, initiated in 2024, is tailored specifically for those aspiring to master the craft of managing film and television productions. This program walks you through the entire production lifecycle—from pre-production and shooting to

post-production.

 

Learn directly from professionals actively shaping the industry, who bring invaluable knowledge, experience, and networks into the classroom. Your training will take place between Creative Media Skills' cutting-edge facilities at Pinewood Studios (about 80% of your time) and the academic environment of Buckinghamshire College Group’s Amersham Campus TV/Film Studio (about 20% of your time).

 

Throughout the course, you'll gain insights from a diverse range of film and TV production roles, including Unit Managers, Line Producers, First Assistant Directors, Producers, and more, equipping you with the skills to navigate and succeed in this dynamic field.

What will I learn?

In our Film & Television Production Management course, you'll gain practical skills essential for navigating the complexities of production. You’ll develop strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities, crucial for anyone aiming to manage production processes effectively.

 

The course emphasises financial and logistical management, alongside enhancing your communication skills to work effectively with teams. By integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, you'll be prepared not just for the challenges of today’s media landscape but also for a thriving career in production management.

Across the programme you will have continuous assessment with particular focus on practical work required for the projects. In the UAL grading structure your final grade, Pass. Merit or Distinction is based on the final major project.

Entry Requirements & Career Progression

Eligibility: Applicants need to 18 and over. Students should have attained GCSE English and or Maths but applications from candidates with good levels of literacy and numeracy will be considered for mature candidates. To apply, please visit the Buckinghamshire College Group website (link below). An interview will be part of the admission process to assess your suitability for the course.

Career Pathways: Starting a career in production management often begins with roles such as Trainee in various departments, or Production Assistant. With the skills you gain here, you'll be well-prepared to advance in TV and film production companies, advertising agencies, and beyond, navigating a career that often thrives on a freelance basis.

Funding

This course is run in conjunction with our partners Buckinghamshire College, the course will be split between Pinewood and Amersham College. If you are under 19 on the date of enrolment this course is funded.

 

There is an additional Material Fee of £350 which can be paid through the Online Store. If you are over 19 on the date of enrolment the course Fee is £6000. You will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan through the government's Student Finance website for £5420 and the remaining £580 can be paid in four instalments through the Online Store. This cost includes the Material Fee.
